If I had to describe the Sphinx Performance Academy in a few words, I’d be at a loss. Because everything about it, the students, the music, the teachers, the experiences and the memories are unforgettable. Walking into the residence hall the first day was a bit overwhelming, but seeing every other diverse student there made me feel a little more at ease and within two days, I had met some of the most talented musicians. The best part is they were just like me. This camp has taught me so much, not only in preparing for music in the future, but building self-confidence in who I am. Whenever I get close to a breakdown I always had a friend, or a teacher or a dorm parent to help out. SPA to me has been more than an intensive chamber camp. Our diversity is what unites us and our love of music makes us friends. And this music program made it all happen. And for that, I am thankful. –Gabrielle Skinner
